Kanye West’s new album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ is out today (22 November). What better excuse to look back at the arch egotist’s funniest ever quotes?

Kanye has been talking up ‘…Dark Twisted Fantasy’ for a while. Back in August he promised it would be his “masterwork. That Avatar-level [work]. I try to compete against the past… Michelangelo, Picasso, the pyramids.” So modest.

After following just one person on Twitter – some random bloke from Coventry – Kanye blared, “You are the chosen one dun dun dun” (before cruelly unfollowing him a few days later). The random bloke in question, Steven Holmes, said of Kanye: “The funny thing is I like his music but I’m not his biggest fan.”

And of course, who could forget the caps lock rant on his blog in January 2009 that ended with the words: “PLEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! LET ME BE GREAT!!!”

Kanye is nothing is not self-aware. He summed up his Twitter activity thus: “I had my own blog for a while, but I decided to go back to just pointless, incessant barking.”
