Foo Fighters Finish Recording “Massive” Album

Foo Fighters celebrate album

The Foo Fighters have finished recording their first disc since 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace — and Dave Grohl says it’ll be a full-on rock’n’roll assault. “There’s 11 songs and front to back, there’s not one sleepy ballad,” Grohl said in an interview with the BBC, adding that the record is “massive.” The still-untitled album is due out sometime this spring.

The Foos, who are currently mastering the LP in New York City, celebrated the completion of the record by teasing a snippet of the track “White Limo,” which you can hear here. It sounds like Grohl is right: the clip is 10-seconds of blistering noise, with Grohl howling like a banshee over fuzzed-out guitars and thunderous drums.

Expect the album to be a return to the rough, punk sound of early Foos records. The group recorded in Grohl’s garage, without the aid of computers or other high-tech equipment. “The process was so simple,” says Grohl. “We entered into this project with a direction. The first song we started recording, the tape just started shredding.”
