CSKA Moscow, Olympiacos Piraeus, Panathinaikos Athens and Regal FC Barcelona got the 4 tickets to Istanbul’s final 4 which is going to take place from May 11 to May 13.
Each team passed through different obstacles but they made it so far. CSKA returned after a humiliating season, Panathinaikos wants to defend the Euroleague crown, Olympiacos made it against all odds and Barcelona returns after one season out of Europe’s best 4 teams.
A few details:
CSKA Moscow:
CSKA is without doubt the strongest team this year in Europe since they’ve won 18 of their 20 games so far. The percentage is impressive. The team’s quality has been increased tremendously comparing with last season and now their only limit is the sky! They want the European trophy with burning passion! Will this be enough to beat last season’s champions? CSKA faces Panathinaikos in the semi-finals. (May 11)
Olympiacos Piraeus:
Olympiacos made it to the final 4 against all odds! Their season wasn’t the best, the team hadn’t found balance until February’s games. Nevertheless, they toughened up and stole the Final 4 advance ticket from Montepaschi Siena. It’s notable that last year, Olympiacos faced Montepaschi again and it was the latter that passed to Barcelona’s Final 4. The Reds now will face Regal FC Barcelona in the semi-final.
Panathinaikos Athens:
The reigning champions want to defend their title for the second year in-a-row! With a mediocre season so far but  impressive, qualitative games during the playoff series vs. Maccabi Tel Aviv, the Greens got their Final 4 ticket last night after a breathtaking game in Greece. However, their advance to the Final 4’s final will be a difficult and interesting challenge since CSKA wants it all and won’t give in!
Regal FC Barcelona:
The Blaugranas are back! After a rather unimpressive season, Barcelona now is called to fight with their whole soul. Having Juan Carlos Navarro in your roster is definitely an asset. Having Juan Carlos Navarro in his best and most effective season so far is a gift, combined with the rest of the first class players Barcelona has. They may not be the ultimate betting but the two times Euroleague Champion won’t give up until it’s over!
EFES Dance Contest 2012:
Remember a previous post of mine about the best dancing team of Euroleague? Well, we have the winner team and they’re “Cheer Up Dancers” of BC Zalgiris Kaunas! You’ll be able to see the girls in each Final 4 game. Just one more reason to watch or even attend the big event!
