This year’s Eurobasket, the 37th in the championship’s history, will be hosted in Lithuania, from August 31th to September 18th. The games of the first round will take place in 4 different cities: Panavėžys (Group A), Šiauliai (Group B), Alytus (Group C) and Klaipėda (Group D). What’s the most impressive though is the participation of 24 countries out of the 49 federations of FIBA.
GROUPS:
Group A: Lithuania, Spain, United Kingdom, Turkey, Poland and Qualifier 2. (aka one of the three additional qualifying round teams for the last two places in Eurobasket 2011.)
Group B: Serbia, Italy, France, Latvia, Germany and Israel.
Group C: Greece, FYROM, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Qualifier 1 (see above)
Group D: Russia, Bulgaria, Belgium, Georgia, Ukraine and Slovenia.
THE STARS:
Many NBAers will wear their national team’s jersey this summer. Pau Gasol, Tony Parker, Dirk Nowitzki, Nikola Pekovic. Gasol and Nowitzki will participate for the last time as they both said.
