It’s been a whirlwind couple of years for Florence Welch and her compatriots. Few music fans can argue that U.K. act Florence + the Machine is one of the major success stories in recent history. Florence’s first album, Lungs, came out way back in ’09, was a hit in England, and then finally gate-crashed U.S. culture (and the XRT Listener Poll) last year.
The 2011 Grammy Nominee for Best New Artist Florence + The Machine will return to Chicago for The XRT/Bud Light BIG Holiday concert on Sunday, December 4th at The Chicago Theatre. Her sophomore album Ceremonials will be released in the US on Tuesday, November 1.
Also appearing will be 21 year old UK sensation, Laura Marling, winner of the 2011 Brit Award for Best Female Artist and the NME Award for Best Solo Artist. Her sold-out Lincoln Hall appearance last month received critical acclaim. Her current album, A Creature I Don’t Know, (her third) has been well received by XRT listeners.
