Michael Kenji Shinoda is a Japanese American songwriter, performer, record producer and visual artist from Agoura Hills, California. He is best known for his vocal and musical endeavors with two-time Grammy winning, multi-platinum rock band Linkin Park. The band has sold over 50 million albums worldwide to date. Their debut, “Hybrid Theory” is certified diamond (10 million sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America. The group’s most recent album, “A Thousand Suns,” debuted at #1 in the US and 14 other countries this year, and has already sold over 1.5 million units worldwide.

Mike was the youngest of his graduating class from Art Center College of Design in 1998, with a B.F.A. in Illustration. He has a hand in most artistic facets of Linkin Park’s imagery, including album artwork, band merchandise, web design and on-stage production art.

Outside of music, Mike’s art has been a constant focus. In 2004, Shinoda broke through with his first show, at Gallery1988 in Los Angeles. The show, entitled Diamonds, Spades, Hearts, and Clubs, featured collaborative artwork with Gary Baseman, graffiti legend SEEN, James “Dalek” Marshall, Greg “Craola” Simkins, and Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn. In subsequent years, Mike went on to create custom products for charity with partners like Music For Relief, Honda, DC Shoes, and Kid Robot. In 2008-2009, Shinoda created a two-part show, Glorious Excess (Born) and Glorious Excess (Dies), at the Japanese American National Museum, Los Angeles. The show was one of the most successful in the museum’s history.

In 2005, Shinoda and his bandmates started Music For Relief, a 501(c)(3) organization comprised of musicians, music industry professionals, and fans, to support disaster relief and combat climate change.
