Fan Review LPU Event: Shooting of Mall with Joe Hahn by Dayna Brisco

Joe Hahn of Linkin Park recently took time to invite a small handful of lucky LPU members to an intimate shooting of his new film “Mall”. The event took place at the Eagle Rock Plaza in Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday night, May 9, 2012. A handful of 7 eager fans, myself included, arrived fashionably early at the scene in hopes of getting a glimpse of the set, and the inside scoop about the making of the film. LPU event head coordinator Adam Ruehmer arrived on time, greeted us, and craftily answered many of our prying questions about the upcoming album, LIVING THINGS, forthcoming tour announcements, LPU, and all other things Linkin Park. ...

Mike Shinoda Scoring Film “The Raid”

For a long time, I have been wanting to score a film. In order for it to work, it would have to have a great story, stunning visuals, and the timing would have to work out in a way that didn’t distract from all the things I want to do with Linkin Park. I’m really excited to have finally found the right project. The movie is called The Raid. Its intense martial arts choreography, amazing cinematography, and great story have been inspiring all kinds of new music. I’m excited for all of you to see—and hear—this film.
mikeshinoda.com This is the trailer. There is some violence in it, so beware! Update: There is also a press release about this:
Culver City, CA (September 9, 2011) – Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) has teamed-up with LINKIN PARK’s Mike Shinoda to create an entirely new musical score for the ultra-intense action picture THE RAID, starring break-out martial arts sensation Iko Uwais (Merantau) and Joe Taslim (Rasa). This collaboration will mark Shinoda’s first feature score. ...

What’s on Harry Potter’s iPod?

With the stateside debut of the final "Harry Potter" film, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," this Friday (July 15), HP fanatics are asking themselves, "What do we do now?" As for us here at Billboard.com, after sitting through seven (and soon to be eight) Potter films that featured regal yet haunting musical scores by John Williams and Alexandre Desplat (among others), we're left wondering what Harry's main jam is. The songs that pumped him up for the big Quidditch matches, or gave him the strength to face He Who Shall Not Be Named -- or at least what he listened to while trudging through his Defense Against the Dark Arts homework. We're putting aside the fact that in J.K. Rowling's books, Harry was born in 1980, not pinning down his musical choices to any specific era. Read on to hear a choice (and telling) selection of songs from the iPods of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy, or at least what we imagine them to be....
