Paramore should have new music by the summer. Speaking from the Grammy Awards red carpet on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, frontwoman Hayley Williams told AOL Music. “We are going to go tomorrow to South America to do a tour. And then when we get back, we’re hoping to record a batch of songs to release over the summer. All the details aren’t worked out yet, but we definitely do want to release [‘In the Mourning’] and some other ones before we put out a record.”
Some of Paramore’s fans feared that the loss of guitarist Josh and drummer Zac Farro would spell the end of the band. Fortunately, it’s quite the opposite. The producer of their album ‘Brand New Eyes,’ Rob Cavallo, is excited to work with them again, possibly for another soundtrack song. Referring to the new band membership, “It’s definitely extra motivation,” said Cavallo,” I’m really proud that they chose me to do this transition and when I heard the first demos, I was absolutely blown away.”
In January, Paramore released a video on their website and Hayley Williams’ Tumblr page featuring guitarist Taylor York and Williams casually performing a bit of their new song, ‘In the Mourning.’ “It’s not a great indication of all the songs. Just maybe a good indication of the growth we’re experiencing right now,” said Williams. “There will definitely be some heavy songs on there.”
Before diving into the writing process, though, Paramore had a couple events to attend. Up for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals at the 53rd Grammy Awards, they strutted their stuff down the red carpet and co-presented with Pauley Perrette for the Best Rock Album award. “Every time I brush my teeth, I say my line in the mirror,” Taylor York joked.
Although Paramore ended up not taking a Grammy home, William posted on her Twitter, “No Grammy this year, but we still feel like winners.”
Bassist Jeremy Davis felt honored to at least be nominated. “You’re voted by people who’ve been nominated before. So it’s kinda like, it feels a little bit more special to me,” he said.
