Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s boyfriend is being lined up as potential new male lead
Jason Statham has been touted as a potential replacement for Shia LaBeouf in Transformers.
LaBeouf has ruled himself out of making a fourth film, claiming there is nowhere left for his character Sam Witwicky to go. But following the huge success of current film Dark Of The Moon, the franchise is expected to continue.
British actor Statham has now been mooted as a possible replacement, down in part to his relationship with female lead Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
A source told Showbiz Spy: “One of the stars being mentioned is Rosie’s boyfriend Jason Staham. It’s clear the franchise still has huge potential, but with a new leading man capable of taking Transformers in a new, darker direction.
“Jason could be just the man to do that and his relationship with Rosie would be in added bonus in marketing the movie.”
Statham will next appear in Killer Elite opposite Robert De Niro and Clive Owen.
