Linkin Park At Staples Centre, Los Angeles – A Review in Tweets

mike Two days ago, Linkin Park rocked their hometown Los Angeles - one of many dates of their North American Tour 2011. There have been a lot of good reviews, but what about all those people that went there and didn't write lengthy reviews on their blogs? One medium that captures single moments in the life of us "regular" people (and the "un-regular", too, sometimes) is Twitter. So here is the first (at least the first I know of) concert review in Tweets! Follow all those people, because they must be cool - they were at a Linkin Park show! http://twitter.com/#!/bigblueoctopus/status/41023137378344960 ...

New Paramore Music Planned For This Summer!

Paramore Paramore should have new music by the summer. Speaking from the Grammy Awards red carpet on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, frontwoman Hayley Williams told AOL Music. "We are going to go tomorrow to South America to do a tour. And then when we get back, we're hoping to record a batch of songs to release over the summer. All the details aren't worked out yet, but we definitely do want to release ['In the Mourning'] and some other ones before we put out a record." Some of Paramore's fans feared that the loss of guitarist Josh and drummer Zac Farro would spell the end of the band. Fortunately, it's quite the opposite. The producer of their album 'Brand New Eyes,' Rob Cavallo, is excited to work with them again, possibly for another soundtrack song. Referring to the new band membership, "It's definitely extra motivation," said Cavallo," I'm really proud that they chose me to do this transition and when I heard the first demos, I was absolutely blown away."...

XL Recordings boss Richard Russell: The secrets of surviving in the music industry

Richard Russell Unless you're an obsessive fan of Kicks Like a Mule's 1992 rave hit the Bouncer – and let's face it, that leaves about three of you – then chances are you won't recognise the man sat sprawled across a big brown leather couch in his Ladbroke Grove offices. If, however, you are a fan of innovative new music, then you probably should. For this is Richard Russell, the boss of XL Recordings, a label that has bucked the trend for gloomy music industry stories over the past decade by breaking a stream of commercially successful yet critically drooled-over artists. The Prodigy, Dizzee Rascal and MIA have all made music on XL, showcasing exactly what the label does best – taking innovative music into the mainstream. Whether it is Dizzee's success opening the doors for the current grime/pop success of Tinie Tempah et al, or Vampire Weekend heralding the indie scene's recent obsession with Afropop, XL likes to break new artists and build the foundation blocks of an emerging scene as it does so. ...

The BRIT Awards 2011: The Winners

BRITS The Grammys were so great this year, weren't they? So many amazing performances! My favourites were the two Rihanna performances with Drake/Eminem, Skylar Grey & Dr. Dre, the Aretha Franklin tribute, Janelle Monae, B.O.B. & Bruno Mars and I've heard Muse were very good, but I haven't watched their performance yet. What are yours? For now let's forget about the Grammys and focus on the BRIT awards! They'll be awarded tonight and there'll be some awesome performances by Take That, Plan B, Rihanna,Tinie Tempah, Mumford & Sons, Adele, Cee Lo Green and Arcade Fire.
