No “Art in the Streets” for Brooklyn Museum: New York Changes Mind About Street Art Show
We've just been forwarded an email sent by the Brooklyn Museum to a street artist in the "Art in the Streets" show, currently on view at the MOCA. The Brooklyn Museum was scheduled to be the next shop in the show's tour, but that's no more.
Read the letter from Brooklyn Museum Director Arnold Lehman below:
I am writing with the unfortunate news the Brooklyn Museum must withdraw as the second venue for "Art in the Streets." I asked our curator, Sharon Matt Atkins, for your email address so that you might hear this news directly from me.

NOUAR “Internally Yours”
Featuring a Special Mini-Exhibition in the Upstairs Gallery
by Joshua Petker
“Celluloid Constellations”
Opening Reception Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 7-10pm
On View June 11 – June 29, 2011
On Saturday, June 11, Nouar will unveil “Internally Yours”, the Los Angeles artist’s first solo exhibition at Corey Helford Gallery, and her most avant-garde to date.
The works in “Internally Yours” feature three-dimensional sugary confections, gelatin dessert molds and a bright, beguiling color palette that lure the viewer in. However, like Jeff Koons’ brightly-colored balloon animals, the characters have a significance beyond their deceptively innocent appearance. “For this show,” Nouar says, “I used food as a visual metaphor to symbolize how dangers are hidden, and how we don’t see them coming until it is too late.” For example, in her painting “Sweet Entrapment,” a bright-pink gummy bear smirks at the doe-eyed brunette trapped inside its stomach.

For over 25 years, fans around the world have been enjoying Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo. This retrospective exhibition celebrates the work of Sakai and includes original drawings and paintings that bring to life the adventures of his samurai rabbit from 17th century feudal Japan.
Usagi Yojimbo is based on the historical figure Miyamoto Musashi and inspired by Japanese folklore, literature, and film. Heavily researched and rich in detail, Sakai’s storylines mix both humor and drama to tell adventures that include authentic Japanese history and culture in the form of a distinctly American comic book....

Temples, McQueen And New York Dreams
Mon 16 May, 2011
Hello everybody!
I haven't written one of these in a while; sorry for neglecting you. I do hope this finds you all just splendid.
I'm back in Blighty now; the birds are singing, the summer's nearly here, I miss you all and hope to see you soon.
We've started recording the new record, excitingly, at the famous Abbey Road Studios. Haven't quite managed to get our pictures taken on that legendary zebra crossing yet, but we do spend a lot of time looking over at other people's attempts. Lying down in the middle of it seems to be popular, weirdly. Bit dangerous if you ask me....
