Joe Hahn of Linkin Park recently took time to invite a small handful of lucky LPU members to an intimate shooting of his new film “Mall”. The event took place at the Eagle Rock Plaza in Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday night, May 9, 2012. A handful of 7 eager fans, myself included, arrived fashionably early at the scene in hopes of getting a glimpse of the set, and the inside scoop about the making of the film. LPU event head coordinator Adam Ruehmer arrived on time, greeted us, and craftily answered many of our prying questions about the upcoming album, LIVING THINGS, forthcoming tour announcements, LPU, and all other things Linkin Park.

SAN FRANCISCO — SoundCloud, the online music-streaming platform and de facto music label for independent artists trying to share their tunes efficiently, announced a complete redesign of its service Wednesday, in what the Berlin-based company called an attempt to “unmute the web.”
The new version of SoundCloud, which the company called “The Next SoundCloud” and launched in private beta Wednesday, offers four new or improved features to the online music platform. Those include a sleeker player (improving on SoundCloud’s signature waveform design), the ability to play sounds continuously and navigate away from a particular track to continue searching the site without the audio stopping, improved search algorithms and tools, and the ability to repost audio in a way very similar to the “reblog” feature on Tumblr.
The improvements, SoundCloud co-founder and CEO Alexander Ljung said, were an attempt to make the web more audio-friendly.

Apocalypse Prep: How to Preserve Food Without a Fridge

Photo: Jihyun Ryou
When you bring food home from a grocery store, chances are you toss it in the fridge. Ever stop to wonder if that's your best move? People managed to store perishables before the era of refrigeration, and if you're imagining a root cellar full of cans and preserves, you're only partially right.

"We don’t observe the food any more and we don’t understand how to treat it."
Are you really treating your food badly when you pop it in the fridge? Well, you're sealing it in a cold box with a bunch of other food -- all of it off-gassing and slowly decomposing. Each item reacts to the chemical composition of the other items, and to the environment itself....

Time’s up!
by Ierra Miole
It was an ordinary day for me. I woke up and cleaned my house. Every day has the same happenings and what will happen next was predictable, a daily routine. If only my father is here, at least that daily routine would change. But it has been three years of not seeing him and the last letter from my father that says he will come back, was three years ago. And until now, he is still gone.
The boredom that we always feel is like a virus that loses up our energy. Maybe that’s the reason why people always have a complaint because every day, they have the same things to do. And because I am one of them, I’m used to it. And maybe that’s the reason why I am very conscious of time.
But I didn’t imagine that this boring life would end up so soon. I am just walking in the mall when I met a man. He bumped me and my pouch fell. The guy picked it up and smile at me as he gave the pouch. Then one woman shouted from my back.
“A thief!! A thief!” she said.
“What happen?” asked the security guard.
“That guy took my wallet!” the woman replied, pointing to the direction of the guy who bumped me.
